SkyEmu troubleshooting

Check installation, game files, missing saves, controls and performance when setting up SkyEmu.

The APK does not install

Check that the device runs Android 7.0 or later and that the file finished downloading. If Android reports a conflict with an existing installation, back up saves before making changes. A different package signature can prevent an update even when the displayed app name is the same.

Return to Install SkyEmu on Android for the normal installation sequence.

The game does not load or displays incorrectly

Check the game file’s format and confirm it is a complete file. The loader offers GB, GBC, GBA, DS and ZIP formats; current project documentation describes DS support as beta. A supported extension does not guarantee compatibility with every game.

Use a known working file you are entitled to use to distinguish a file problem from a device or emulator problem. Avoid changing several advanced options at once.

A game save is missing

Check that the save matches the game’s base filename and has the .sav extension. The documented native-build convention places it with the ROM. Keep a backup while testing another location or importing it.

Do not confuse an ordinary game save with a save state. See Manage saves and BIOS files.

Touch controls are hard to use

Review touch-control scale and opacity. Check whether controls are set to hide when inactive, and check your device orientation. For a physical controller, review each important binding.

See Adjust display and controls.

Play is slow

Performance depends on the device, game and emulator build. Return to normal speed if fast-forward is enabled, and try simpler display settings before changing advanced emulation options. The project’s browser edition has additional performance overhead compared with native execution.

These checks narrow down common setup issues. They are not a guarantee that every game or device can run without problems.
